Eagle Landing is a golfer’s paradise nestled in the picturesque town of Orange Park, located in northeastern Florida. Situated just southwest of Jacksonville, Orange Park offers a delightful blend of small-town charm and convenient access to urban amenities. The town’s proximity to major attractions and the pristine beaches of the Atlantic coast makes it an ideal destination for golfers seeking a memorable experience. Let’s get right into the Eagle Landing Golf Course Review.

This 18-hole championship golf course, designed by Clyde Johnston, is a hidden gem within the region. Spanning over 7,037 yards from the back tees, the course showcases a masterful layout that harmoniously blends with the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape.

The Front Nine:

I scored a birdie on the opening hole, which presented a great opportunity for an early win. The course features well-maintained fairways and strategically placed bunkers that demand precise shots and careful decision-making, challenging golfers to bring their A-game.

Moving on to the second hole, a tough par 3, I concentrated on accuracy to avoid the surrounding bunkers and get a good position on the green. Luckily, I ended up with a par.

As we progress to the fourth hole, a par 4, the course shows its teeth. This dogleg left requires a well-placed tee shot to set up a manageable approach. My experience here reminded me that even the best golfers can encounter challenges that test their mettle.

The course continues to captivate with its beautiful scenery and thoughtful design. Each hole offers a unique setting, with lush foliage and water features enhancing the golfing experience. From the tight fairways of the fifth hole to the risk-reward opportunities of the seventh, where water comes into play, Eagle Landing keeps you engaged and on your toes.

As luck would have it, I managed to find not one but two watery graves for my golf balls off the tee on 7. The four-person group ahead of me, being the good sports they were, generously waved me through, undoubtedly hoping to spare themselves from witnessing any further aquatic adventures on my part. But hey, that’s what makes golfing at Eagle Landing so entertaining – even my errant shots found a way to add some extra flair to the round!

As I made my way through the well-manicured fairways and strategically placed bunkers, I couldn’t help but notice the delightful presence of a bunch of Muscovy ducks scattered along the course.

Encounter with a Skilled Golfer:

As I reached the eighth hole, a 400-yard par 4, my golfing journey took an unexpected twist. I had the privilege of catching up with a seasoned golfer named Don. Despite being 63, Don was a remarkable player, consistently driving the ball an impressive 250-260 yards off the tee. He effortlessly maneuvered through the course, showcasing the versatility of Eagle Landing as it accommodates players with varying abilities.

The Back Nine:

Throughout the round, the course continued to impress with its thoughtful design and impeccable maintenance. Notably, the 12th hole stood out as a picturesque par 4, framed by captivating scenery and presenting a unique test of skill and precision.

The shot of the day for me came on this hole. Despite finding myself in a bunker off the tee, I managed to escape with a skillful punch shot, leaving me with a delicate chip that miraculously found its way into the hole, saving par.

However, it was on the 15th hole where the course truly demanded my unwavering focus and skill. This par 4 featured an extremely tight landing zone for the drive. The fairway seemed to narrow, flanked by dense vegetation and well-placed hazards on both sides. A well-executed tee shot was paramount to set up a manageable approach to the green.

The 17th hole presented an additional challenge as we encountered a sudden downpour.

Despite the weather, the course held up admirably. Undeterred, we completed the 18th hole under clearing skies, culminating the back nine on a high note.

Eagle Landing Golf Course has rightfully earned its reputation as one of the top golfing destinations in Orange Park, Florida. Its pristine fairways, challenging layout, and warm atmosphere create the perfect recipe for an unforgettable golfing adventure in this charming town.

For anyone seeking a golfing haven in northeastern Florida, teeing off at Eagle Landing in Orange Park promises a rewarding and enjoyable golfing journey. In terms of quality, both Eagle Landing and Candler Hills Golf Course felt like they were neck and neck, offering well-maintained fairways, pristine greens, and thoughtful course designs that left a lasting impression on my golfing experience.
